Do you have an idea for solving the problems people face daily? You can put your skills to work and turn your passion into a business. Social enterprises are businesses that solve social problems. Here are some tips on how to start your own social enterprise.
First, think about the problems in neighborhood or community that worry you. The thing that annoys or angers you could just become a business. If something doesn’t work properly, you see a need somewhere, or some group isn’t being treated right, then finding a solution to the problem could be a good starting point for a business.
Then, do some research to find out what other people have tried to solve the problem. What worked? What didn’t? Is there some idea you have that someone else tried, but with a small change might work?
Next, you need a plan for the business. This is the part that seems the scariest to people. They don’t even know where to begin! Fortunately, there is a lot of help online and in communities for people who have a great idea and want to make a business plan.
